EDIT 3: Okay, so I just have a chat with Chibachiba-san, and it seems that what I wrote in the first edit of this was considered "nasty" by some people...
That was never my intention... I was just a little frustrated then because I saw the mistraslation and then I was also kind of frustrated about whether I want to continue or not and it was also because I was feeling bad at the same time "stealing" other people intended translation.
It was just a mish mash of a lot of emotion, but being nasty was never the intention. So for Chibachiba-san, I DIDN'T MEAN IT THAT WAY! </3 I'm sad in my kokoro now T^T
But, I will keep the original edit as it is because removing just shows like I got something to hide. So, you guys can read on it and make up your own mind.
Above everything else, I don't want to have no drama or misunderstandings and this is a fun thing to do for me so I don't want no beef with anybody. yupyup...
EDIT 2: Chibachiba scans is very understanding and once again I'm sorry for the double up, but the good news is that I will be translating "Bokura no Shokutaku" for Chibachiba-san :3
Okay, I understand that Chibachiba Scans also translating this as well and checking out their tumblr, I realized that ChibaChiba decided to translate this since awhile ago. I'm really sorry that I didn't look around properly and just go on my whim and translate it.
However, after checking out their chapter, and I'm not thinking that I'm superior, but after reading it, I realized that while some sentences they phrased it better than me. Trying to phrase it nicely in English has been a great challenge for me most of the time while translating-but they have quite a lot of mistranslations. Like, Japanese is a language of nuances and read between the lines, and sometimes we have to know that what it's saying is not saying THAT, but some part of the translation by ChibaChiba is totally off the mark. Like, it wasn't saying that at all in the original Japanese text but it's being said as something else in their translation.
So, I'm conflicted. Can I provide a better translation? That's up for debate. Maybe, maybe not. But I don't want to waste my time translating stuff that other people are doing since I'm just a one man show. But- urgh the translation accuracy... uggh ARGH! KILL ME, SOMEONE! OTL
Anywayz, I'll roll around the field (mentally) before I decides what to do. I still have a few more translations to push out and IRL is being really pesky right now. T^T
How is it going? I've been going a little slow myself T^T but today I'm veering off course a little to bring the translation of a lovely little story about how dining brought people together and changes their lives!
Veering off course because I should be working on "Dear, Crazy Monster" (NO WORRIES! It has been cleaned and what not, I just need to translate it to put it out :3) and Kokuhaku Biyori. (You will probably be seeing this soon as it has been a while since you guys read Chapter One, isn't it?)
But first, let's talk about this story. I cried after reading it. It was a sweet slow story and I'm a sucker for that, lemme tell you!! I decided there and there (while crying) that I would translate this and so I changed focus a little to quickly translate this.
This is also my first Shounen-Ai story translation, so, for those looking for those hanky-panky, I'm sorry there's none of it, but please just read this for the story itself. I fell in love with it and I hope you will too.
With this, I'm also experimenting with some styling for my translations. There's more colors and I'm currently kind of obsessed with pop colors so this is what happened to the pages. I hope you all will find it cute and non obtrusive. It is definitely different scanlation wise, but I've been seeing stuff like this in a lot of original publications especially in web published manga. So it's just me trying to emulate it. It's also just me trying to find an identity for myself as a translator. I've always as a reader, admiring various other people translations and their styling or you can even say packaging of their translations. Like Damn Feels for example, with their always on point credit pages. Sadly, I don't have such skillset or sense to create stuff like that, but I'm trying to do what I can and feels like it represents me.
I hope you guys find it okay :3
Lastly, Happy reading as always :3
Please go into full screen mode (F11) before reading to ensure you're able to read the chapter at full size. Thank you.
